RENFE is the Spanish rail service company in Spain. Within the Spanish railway system, a network of short-haul trains is known as Cercanias Renfe (Rodalies Renfe in Catalan).
Cercanias RENFE lines serving the principal cities of Spain connecting major cities with its surrounding metropolitan area or with other population centers of the first level, located no further than 60km.
Of the 13 lines that make up the system Cercanías Barcelona, 6 are operated by RENFE. The other 7 are part of the network called FGC – Ferrocarriles de la Generalitat de Cataluña.

Tickets, when used in Barcelona city, are the same as those used in the metro, bus, FGC and RENFE and transfers among all these means of transport are allowed within the following 1 hour and 15 minutes from the first validation of the ticket.
