The Joan Gamper Trophy (Trofeu Joan Gamper in Catalan) is Barcelona’s annual pre-season football competition. It is Barça’s official presentation in front of their own supporters.

This year the Joan Gamper will take place on August 25th at 19:45 and Barcelona will play against Italian giants AC Milan.

This will be the perfect chance to see the new signings Villa and Adriano as well as the rest of Barcelona stars Messi, Xavi, Ibrahimovic, Puyol and of course Iniesta who score the goal the gave Spain their first World Cup title in South Africa.

Ticket prices vary from 19 to 88 euro for the general public and from 14 to 66 euro for Barcelona members.

Spanish Super Cup

Football is back !!!

F.C Barcelona will play the 2nd leg of the Spanish Super Cup on Saturday 21th of August at 21:30.

Barcelona has to overcome a 3-1 deficit to Sevilla, although for this second leg at home, Barça’s coach Pep Guardiola should have the Spanish internationals (Valdes, Puyol, Piqué, Busquests, Xavi, Iniesta, Pedro and Villa) who did not play the first leg in Sevilla.

Barcelona supporters hope to celebrate the first official trophy of the 2010/11 season.

Ticket prices vary from 32 to 102 euro for the general public and from 26 to 82 euro for F.C Barcelona members.

League title celebration in Barcelona

Next Sunday night (16.05.2010), Barcelona city could be either a big celebration or great sadness. With just one game left, Spanish league (la liga) title still has to be decided.

Barcelona is top of the league by a single point, so a win will guarantee Barcelona the title.

Barcelona plays at home against Valladolid, while Madrid plays away from home at Málaga. Surprisingly enough while Barcelona and Madrid will fight to win the Spanish league, both Valladolid and Malaga are fighting to avoid relegation so all four teams will give everything. Both matches will kick off simultaneously at 7pm local time.

If Barcelona wins this last game of the season, it will be Barcelona 20th Spanish League title and of course there will be a huge celebration. Barça supporters usually celebrate at the top of Las Ramblas (Canaletes fountain) so if you happen to be in Barcelona next week and you would like to be surrounded by more than 100,000 Barcelona supporters you just have to go to Las Ramblas.

However, you have to be aware that in recent years there have been riots during Barcelona celebrations so you should be aware that celebrations may turn into violence late at night.

Tip: If you go celebrating, do no stay there for too late as late at night things may get violent, and if you see any sign of people going mad damaging kiosks, lamposts and bus stops, do not stay any longer and leave the area immediately as things may get nasty.

It has been an incredible week for F.C.Barcelona (commonly known as Barça) after winning La Liga and the Spanish Cup Final (Copa del Rey), all after beating Athletic Bilbao 4-1 in Valencia.

Barcelona crowned League Champion after Real Madrid’s 3-2 defeat at Villarreal. That same week, Barcelona won the Copa del Rey after beating Athletic Bilbao 4-1 in Valencia in an incredible game.

Barcelona supporters have had double celebration in Les Rambles, and who knows if there will be a third celebration as Barcelona has still the chance of winning the Champions League against Manchester United next 27th of May in Rome.

Champions League Semifinal: Barcelona vs Chelsea

F.C. Barcelona is the only non-English team that has reached the Champions League semifinal.

Barcelona will face Chelsea in the Semi-Finals of the Champions League. The catalan club sealed its place in the Semi’s with a comprehensive win over Bayern Munich at the Camp Nou.

First Leg: Camp Nou (Barcelona), 28.04.2009
Second Leg: Stamford Bridge (London), 06.05.2009

Chelsea progressed to the last four of the competition after a fantastic 4-4 draw against Liverpool.

On the other semi-final, Arsenal and Manchester United will look for a place in the Champions League Final in Rome on Mary 27th.

Transport Information:

Barcelona City Council (Ajuntament de Barcelona) will increase the frequency of Metro and Buses before and after the game to minimize the effects on traffic.

Metro will remain open until 12.

Champions League – Barcelona vs Lyon

After the winter break, the Champions League is finally back.

Barcelona will play the second leg of first knockout round against Olympique Lyonnais at the Nou Camp on March 10th at 20:45h.

Although Barcelona are favourites because of Henry’s vital away goal, their recent poor form makes them vulnerable so Lyon has definitely a change to kick the Catalan team out of the competition.

French supporters will travel to Barcelona in big numbers to support their team so if you are in Barcelona for the game and have some free time to spend, why not doing some sightseeing or getting the Touristic Bus to get a taste of what Barcelona has to offer?

Althoug the Nou Camp is a huge stadium with a capacity of 98,000, it is very difficult to get tickets for big games unless you are a Barcelona member. However it is not impossible so if you are in Barcelona for the game you may try calling the club or going to the stadium to see whether or not there are tickets available. You never now, you may be lucky.
