There are only 3 real Irish pubs in Barcelona, the rest are locally owned sports bars with Irish names. Having worked in Flahertys I would never eat or drink there. Kitchen practices are disgusting and they serve a supermarket carton (Don Simon) of sangria in a jug of ice and pawn it off at a ridiculous price as 'home-made'.

1 - Michael Collins, near Sagrada Familia

2 - The Fastnet, Juan de Borbo in Barcelonetta

3 - George Payne, Plaza Urquinaona

Flaherty’s:
I really liked that they have live music! You just don't find that so often in other pubs. It just really makes a special atmosphere and the people get into good mood and enjoy a couple of hours with their friends. Good offer of beer too and the service is quick!

When I can't think of any place to go with some friends, we always end up here and it never disappoints.
I like Flaherty’s because it has a nice pub feel and they serve food. Great place to watch the GAA matches.
of course they have a lovely Guinness!!

This is possibly one of the better posts I have come across on this subject. I would like to know if you have you looked into the opposite side of the argument of travel tips? Personally, I think a good case could be made either way, but please let me know if you have found more articles or sources on the Internet to verify what you are discussing.

Like the Collins but was a bit far out for getting back into the middle of city for late night antics. Flahertys is good craic also but the one we liked the most was Dunnes good for breakfast, lunch, dinner and late night pint of the black stuff. Didnt actually have lunch but was in full flow. Breakfast was refreshing and the dinner was enjoyable all round.

Barcelona is such a great city for pub, clubs, bars and restaurants and little did I think that I would see solace in an irish Pub given that being Irish and being away for a week I thought i would not venture into and Irish Bar. However after a few mad nights in this city, I was only to glad to find a few Irish Bars in Barcelona which were nice places to relax, enjoy some good food and relax in good company and the Barcelona Irish Pubs offer just that. my fav was Dunnes located on Laietanna Avenue and is a classic old world Irish pub with great character but more importantly frinedly people.
